Spring is often a busy time of year for farmers, and equipment needs to be in top condition in order to handle the long days and heavy-duty jobs common for the season. To ensure your tractor is ready for this hectic season, be sure to read over our helpful maintenance tips below.

Clean Your Tractor

If you didn’t wash your tractor before placing it into winter storage, or you’ve been using your model throughout the winter season, now is a good time to take a moment and give your tractor a thorough deep cleaning. This will help reduce the likelihood of rust or corrosion appearing on your model, and help improve the overall performance of your tractor.

Engine Care

Now that your tractor is looking spic and span you’ll want to give the engine a little TLC. Start by ensuring that the battery is fully charged, and follow up by cleaning the terminals with a slurry of baking soda and water. Next, be sure to replace the various filters on your model—such as the fuel, air, and hydraulic filters—and inspect fluids for any signs of debris, condensation, or discoloration. If any of your engine fluids don’t seem up to snuff, we recommend flushing and replacing them immediately. Fuel and engine oil are especially sensitive to cold temperatures, so we recommend having them flushed regardless of how the fluid may appear.
